Shararat revolves around Jiya the great great grand daughter of Rani Devi (Rani Devi was blessed with magical powers by a sage which is supposedly handed down to each daughter down the line.) Bubbly Jiya is celebrating her 18th birthday and unknowingly, is now the wielder of supernatural powers. Jiya stays with her family - her father Suraj Malhotra, her mother Radha, her brother Jai and her grandmother, Nani.

The Malhotra home is a pandemonium with three witches who use or should we say misuse their magic, nearly always ending up in trouble. Mr. Malhotra not only has to deal with his wife but also his mother-in-law who keeps butting into his life at every conceivable opportunity. Jiya’s new-found skills; the three women’s frequent visits to Rani Devi in the nether world; pranks, mishaps, and tons of bumbling jumbling mumbo jumbo make ‘Shararat’ a great supernatural comedy.
